Marianne is The Dutchess.
Dutch by birth and at home in Sitges for many years, she has built the bar around something that cannot really be manufactured: a genuine love for hospitality and for the people who walk through the door.
She lives and breathes The Dutchess. Not simply as the owner of a bar, but as its host, its character and, in many ways, its heartbeat. She knows her regulars, remembers the small things and has a remarkable ability to make new guests feel as though they have already been there before.
For Marianne, hospitality has never been about filling tables or serving drinks as quickly as possible. It is about creating a place people want to return to, where conversations happen naturally, where nobody needs to rush, and where an ordinary evening can unexpectedly become a very good one.
Over the years, The Dutchess has grown around that idea. The cocktails, the wine, the music and the atmosphere all matter, but ultimately it is the people who give the place its life.
And Marianne would probably tell you that without them, there would be no Dutchess at all.
